All In Prayer Booklet: Week 2 - Sunday
Week 2 (Sunday)
Praying For Wisdom
James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom,
let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given
him.”
Wisdom
can be defined
here as ‘the right use of knowledge.’ We human beings are incredibly prone to
live our lives based on what looks right, seems right, feels right, and sounds
right. But wisdom gives us the ability to see our lives through God’s eyes and
make decisions accordingly. To put it plainly, wisdom allows you to align your
heart with God’s.
“Our job as (Christians), like experienced surfers, is to
recognize a wave of God’s Spirit and ride it. It is not our responsibility to make
waves but to recognize how God is working in the world and join Him in the
endeavor. … In other words, (we) should stop praying, ‘Lord, bless what I’m
doing’ and start praying, ‘Lord, help me to do what you are blessing.’”
How do we acquire such wisdom? We
simply ask God for it in faith. Thankfully, He “gives generously to all without
reproach.” In other words, our God gives His wisdom generously and doesn’t
scold His children for asking!
This week, we ask God’s wisdom for our
lives, for our families, and most especially, for our church. What does God
desire for CBC? How can we best invest our resources of time, money, and energy
to further His great Kingdom? What is God’ specific will for Calvary for 2017
and beyond?
“When God’s work is done in God’s way
for God’s glory, it will not lack for God’s supply.”
